Odessa/Lubbock, Texas- Men's tennis traveled to West Texas to take on the Hawks and Chaps. The Aggies were defeated 4-3 by the UTPB on Friday and 6-1 by Lubbock Christian but competed in nearly each matchup.
On Friday, the Aggies dropped each doubles matchup to UTPB. In singles #2, Noe Milliard won his matchup 6-4 and 6-2. Vincente Preto won an exciting tiebreaker 7-5 and the second set 6-2. Kristian Kubik competed in tiebreakers in each of his three sets. He lost the first set iebreaker 7-1 but won his final two tiebreakers 7-5, 10-8.
Cameron applied pressure on the Chaps in the first two doubles meetings. Noe Milliard and Kristian Kubik fell in a tiebreaker 7-3 in doubles #1. While Vincente Preto and Rhys Edwards also fell late in a tiebreaker 7-5. Louis Boilevin and Brendan Lock dropped #3 doubles 6-3.
For the singles, Miliard began with a tie breaker loss in the first set 7-3 but lost out 6-1 in the second set. The Aggies would fall in singles #2 but put up an impressive fight in singles #3. Preto narrowly lost the first set 7-6 and went into tiebreakers for the final two sets. He would defeat his opponent 7-2 in a second set tiebreaker but fall in the third set tiebreaker 10-8. Cameron fell in the #4 and #5 singles matchups. Setina fought valiantly in #6 singles but fell short in the third set, 6-3, 6-1, 6-2.
The Aggies will take the week off from competition until they head to Silver City, NM to take on Western New Mexico then to Alpine, TX for a first time LSC faceoff against Sul Ross April 11th and 12th.
