ALPINE, Texas — Men's and Women's tennis teams delivered a dominant performance with both squads earning decisive 7-0 victories over Sul Ross State University.
The Women's team took to the court in the morning and wasted no time asserting control. In doubles,
Martyna Jankowska and
Jenna Goessel claimed a 6-1 victory, while
Alexsa Paucar and
Anastasia Uspenskaia shut out their opponents 6-0. The third doubles match went to the Aggies by forfeit.
In singles play, the Aggies swept all six matches in straight sets. Jankowska, Uspenskaia, and Goessel each secured 6-0,6-0 wins, with teammates
Magda Wawrowska,
Mara Vidal, and
Alexsa Paucar following with equally commanding performances.
Later in the afternoon, the men's team followed suit with their own 7-0 shutout. The trio of doubles pairs —
Kristian Kubik and
Noe Milliard,
Rhys Edwards and
Vicente Preto, and Brendad Lock and
Louis Boilevin—each posted flawless 6-0 wins to secure the doubles point.
The singles matches were no different, as the Aggies overwhelmed Sul Ross State without dropping a set. Boilevin, Milliard, Lock, and Valente all recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins, while Preto and Kubik added convincing victories of their own to complete the sweep.
The clean sweep in Alpine marks a strong showing for both tennis teams as they go back to home base against Dallas Baptist University on April 17th.
