LAWTON, Okla. — Men's and women's tennis teams each fell in hard-fought matches against UT Tyler in a match that was to Friday April 18 due to severe weather.
The Aggie men came up just short, losing 4-3 to the Patriots. In doubles play, Cameron took victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.
Rhys Edwards and
Vicente Preto clinched a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, while
Lukas Janousek and
Lachlan Setina secured a 6-4 decision at No. 3. Despite these wins, UT Tyler grabbed the crucial No. 1 doubles point.
In singles action,
Louis Boilevin picked up a three-set victory at No. 1 singles, defeating Carel Wessel.
Kristian Kubik added another point for the Aggies with a straight set win at No. 4 singles. However, UT Tyler captured singles victories at the No. 2,3,5, and 6 positions to edge out the overrall team win.
In the women's matchuup, the Aggies also battled to a 4-3 loss against UT Tyler. The Patriots claimed two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
Anastasia Uspenskaia and
Magda Wawrowska recorded a win for the Aggies at No. 2 doubles.
On the singles side, Cameron rallied with strong performances. Uspenskaia dominated at No. 2 singles, winning in straight sets, while
Jenna Goessel added a straight-sets win at No. 3 singles. Wawrowska completed the Aggies' singles victories with a three-set win at No. 4 singles. However, UT Tyler took singles matches at the No. 1,5, and 6 position to seal the team victory.
Both teams will be back at home April 24th going against the St. Mary's Rattlers.
