TYLER, Texas – The Cameron University women's tennis team wrapped up the first day of competition at the ITA South Central Regional Tournament.
 
In the singles draw, Nil Kalkavan took down UT Dallas' Montserrat Salazar, 6-1, 6-2, and Alexa Garcia beat Colorado State University Pueblo's Laney Reddick to make it into the Round of 32.
 
In the singles consolation draw, Jenna Goessel won in straight sets over UT Dallas' Emily Ryan, 6-0, 6-1, and Anna Deuringer grabbed a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Lubbock Christian's Hannah Quick to make it to the Round of 16.
 
The doubles draw saw Anna Deuringer and Alexa Garcia drop their first match against Emily Ryan and Sabrina Pugh from UT Tyler, 8-1, In their second match, they secured an 8-5 victory over Lubbock Christian's Aitana Moreno Villa and Alexandra Luders to make it into the quarterfinals of the consolation doubles draw.

Isabella Quintero and Jenna Goessel won their first match, 8-2, over Lubbock Christian's Hannah Quick and Alexa Irazabal. They then dropped a close match to Sasa Felixova and Margaux Rene from Angelo State, 8-6.

The action continues early tomorrow with first serves starting at 8 AM.
