Women's Basketball Defeats Sul Ross State University, 70-64

Alpine, Texas - The Cameron University women's basketball team secured the victory against Sul Ross State University Saturday afternoon. Cameron started off in a neck-in-neck battle with Sul Ross State in the first quarter. Kloe Heidebrecht 
scored 11 of Cameron's 14 points in the first quarter. Sul Ross State would pull ahead in the second quarter, taking a 31-22 lead at the half. In the third quarter, the Aggies would find themselves down by double digits, until a pair of 3-pointers made by Mercedes Mancha and Kloe Heidebrecht brought Cameron within 7 points of Sul Ross State going into the fourth quarter. The Aggies would work their way past the Lobos to take the lead and key free throws would help hold off Sul Ross State and Cameron would come out on top with the victory. 

The Leaders
  • Chanelle Davis led the Aggies with scoring 18 points and secured 10 rebounds to earn herself a double-double.
  • Kloe Heidebrecht scored 17 points shooting 5-of-8 from the 3-point line, and added 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist and a block.
  • Mercedes Mancha had a game high of 6 assists while tallying 13 points.
