San Antonio, TX - The Cameron University Men's tennis team secured their first Lone Star Conference win of the season after beating St. Mary's University, 5-2.
The Aggies started off doubles with a win on the No. 1 court, with No. 4 Lukas Janousek and Noe Milliard winning 6-3. St. Mary's earned a win on the No. 3 court, with Lu Castillo Sanchez and Victor Velter beating Tom Debonne and Zoheir Fardoun, 6-4. The Aggies clinched the doubles point after Santiago Ledesma and Abubakari Yakubu-Lea picked up the 7-5 win on the No. 2 court.
In singles play, Santiago Ledesma won in straight sets on the No. 3 court to put Cameron up 2-0 in the match. On the No. 5 court, Tom Debonne fell to Aaron Ben Anton in a third-set tiebreaker. Abubakari Yakubu-Lea picked up a straight-set victory on the No. 4 court. Freshman Zoheir Fardoun earned a 6-2, 7-5 win on the No. 6 court to clinch match point for the Aggies. No. 4-ranked Lukas Janousek defeated No. 51-ranked Lu Castillo Sanchez 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) on the No. 1 court. To wrap up the day, Leonardo Fabbri from St. Mary's beat No. 73-ranked Noe Milliard 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-5.
