Kingsville, TX - The Cameron University Women's tennis team defeated Lone Star Conference opponent Texas A&M University-Kingsville, 5-2, for its first LSC win of the season.
In doubles play, Cameron struck first, with
Alexa Garcia and
Daniela Maldonado earning a 6-2 victory on the No. 3 court. On the No. 2 court,
Adel Ismagulova and
Isabella Quintero clinched the doubles point for the Aggies with a 6-4 win. Completing the doubles sweep,
Jenna Goessel and
Nil Kalkavan beat Guadalupe Tocci and Maya Donker 7-5 on the No. 1 court.
In singles play,
Jenna Goessel beat Maya Donker 6-0, 6-0 on the No. 1 court to put Cameron up 2-0 in the match. Freshman
Alexa Lugo picked up a straight-set victory on the No. 6 court. On the No. 5 court, freshman
Daniela Maldonado clinched match point for the Aggies with a 7-5, 6-0 win.
Isabella Quintero fell on the No. 4 court to Annika Andersson Gomez from TAMUK in three sets. On the No. 3 court,
Alexa Garcia earned the win in a third set-supertiebreaker.
Adel Ismagulova dropped her match against Guadalupe Tocci in three sets on the No. 2 court to wrap up the match.
