Lawton, Okla. - The Cameron University Men's tennis team defeated the University of Texas Permian Basin in a Lone Star Conference match up, 5-2.
The Aggies started off doubles with a win on the No. 3 court, with Tom Debonne and Zoheir Fardoun picking up a 6-4 win. On the No. 2 court, Santiago Ledesma and Abubakari Yakubu-Lea earned a 6-2 victory to clinch the doubles point for Cameron. No. 5 Lukas Janousek and Noe Milliard went to a tiebreaker on the No. 1 court and defeated Andrew Hunsley and Nehal Naidoo 7-6 (8-6) to secure the doubles sweep.
In singles play, UT Permian Basin claimed the first two singles points after picking up straight-set wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. On the No. 1 court, No. 8-ranked Lukas Janousek fought back after dropping the first set to secure a three-set win over Joao D'Amorim, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. On the No. 4 court, Abubakari Yakubu-Lea also battled back from a set down to defeat Kabir Chothani, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Zoheir Fardoun clinched match point for the Aggies after picking up a straight-set win on the No. 6 court. To wrap up the match, Ulysse Esphahani earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory on the No. 5 court to make the match score 5-2 in Cameron's favor.
