Dallas, Texas - The Cameron University Volleyball team opened play at the Lone Star Conference Challenge Thursday evening against Dallas Baptist University inside the Burg Center. The Aggies showed improvement throughout the match and produced their strongest offensive set of the night in the third before falling in three sets, 25-17, 25-19, 25-21. Cameron battled back from an early deficit in the opening set, using consecutive service aces from Emily Jaramillo to pull even at 13-13. DBU responded and eventually pulled away to take the opener, 25-17. The Aggies again fought back in the second, trimming a 10-3 deficit to 14-13 before the Patriots answered with a run of their own. Cameron scored five of the final six points before DBU closed the set, 25-19. The Aggies put together their best stretch of the match in the third, racing out to a 7-1 advantage behind a strong service run from Madison Waiki. Cameron maintained control through much of the frame and held a 20-16 lead following a block from Ana Hrle and Luana Lombardi. DBU answered with an 8-0 run to move ahead 24-20 before the Aggies fought off one match point on a Waiki kill. The Patriots followed with the final point to secure the 25-21 victory. Cameron hit a match-best .423 in the third set with 11 kills and no attack errors.

Key Performers
Ana Hrle led the Cameron attack with five kills on 12 attempts without an error, finishing with a .417 hitting percentage. She also contributed five block assists and a team-high 7.5 points.
Caitlyn Cornell turned in an efficient performance at the net, recording four kills on five attacks without an error for a team-best .800 hitting percentage. She added four block assists and finished with six points.
Lillian Carollo added four kills on 13 attempts while contributing three block assists and two digs, finishing with 5.5 points.
Maria Osorio recorded four kills and added a block assist, finishing with 4.5 points.
Mavery Salisbury directed the Aggie offense with a team-high 11 assists while adding a service ace and one dig.
Emily Jaramillo led Cameron from the service line with two aces while also recording a team-high nine digs and two assists.
