#19 Aggies squeak out 5-4 win over #29 Tigers

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- The #19 ranked Cameron University men’s tennis team will return back to Lawton after a tough fought 5-4 win over #29 ranked Ouachita Baptist on Sunday afternoon.

Cameron (4-1) struggled in doubles, falling in two matches, while winning in one.  Despite of this, the Aggies took four of the six matches in singles to get the win.

The pairing of Nicolai Ferrigno and Dennis Merdan earned CU their lone doubles win edging OBU, 8-6. Duje Janjic and Dean Weigelt fell, 8-3, while Angelo Lencioni and Joao Fazendeiro dropped their match, 8-5.

In singles #19 Ferrigno defeated #50 Marco Boskovic, 7-5 and 6-0.  #49 ranked Janjic played in a tough match at the number two spot but would win 7-5 and 7-6.  Lencioni would need an a third set but would win 5-7, 6-1, and 6-2.  While Fazendeiro added the fourth CU singles win at the number six spot, 6-2 and 6-3.

Jorge Gerosi had a tough day at the court in number three singles, falling 6-1 and 6-1, while Merdan would all fall in number four singles 6-1 and 6-1.

The Aggies will travel to Shawnee on Feb. 21 to face Oklahoma Baptist University at 1 p.m.
