LAWTON, Okla. – The #19 Cameron University men’s tennis team opened the season with a 9-0 perfect game against Dallas Baptist University today.

In doubles, partners Nicolai Ferrigno and Dennis Merdan outplayed counterparts Phillip Allen and Bradley Hilliard 8-1. The pairing of Duje Janjic and Dean Weigelt claimed an 8-0 win while Angelo Lencioni and João Fazendeiro seized an 8-1 victory.

The outstanding play extended into the singles matches as Ferrigno toppled his opponent 6-1, 6-2. Janjic was also successful, securing a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Senior Jorge Gerosi took the match 6-1, 6-1 while Lencioni finished with 6-1, 6-0. New to the team this year, Merdan and Fazendeiro nailed their first single matches of the season with scores 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 2-0 (retired) respectively.

The men will remain in Texas for their next match against the University of Texas-Arlington tomorrow at 3 p.m.
