SILVER CITY, N.M. – The #20 ranked Cameron University men’s tennis team pushed their winning streak to 10 defeating #35 ranked Western New Mexico in a tough 5-4 match in Silver City, N.M. on Saturday afternoon.
Cameron dug themselves into a hole early getting swept in doubles for the first time this season. However, in singles the Ags found a groove and took 5-of-6 matches for the win.
Nicolai Ferrigno who is having a big time season for the Ags continued to be undefeated winning his singles match 6-3, 6-0. Ferrigno is a perfect 12-0 for the year. Â
Duje Janjic had no trouble in two singles winning 6-1, 6-0. Dennis Merdan won in four singles 6-4, 6-3, while Angelo Lencioni and Joao Fazendeiro came from behind in both their matches. (Lencioni, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 / Fazendeiro, 6-7, 7-5, 6-3).Â
Cameron who has an overall record of 11-1 last lost on Feb. 8 to UT-Arlington, they will return to action on March 17 at Arizona Christian University.
