DURANT, Okla. – Two days removed from their last match the #20 Cameron Aggie men’s tennis team continued their momentum this season and defeated Southeastern Oklahoma 8-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
This is the Ags’ 14th win of the season on two losses, included in their streak this season is Nicolai Ferrigno who is a perfect 16-0 this year. Â
For the Savage Storm (8-7), this was their third loss in a row.
Cameron swept all three doubles matches to jump out to the 3-0 lead. Duje Janjic and Angelo Lencioni defeated Luka Ladulovic and Tiago Ferrieria, 8-6 in the one slot before the teams of Dean Weigelt and Ferrigno and Dennis Merdan and Joao Fazendeiro picked up wins for the Aggies in the two and three slots, 8-6, and 8-4 respectively.Â
Cameron’s lone loss of the afternoon came at number four singles; Jorge Gerosi fell in a pair of close sets, 7-5, and 6-4 to Larercio Lobo. The match of the day was in the number one slot, with Ferrigno facing Ladulovic, who is the ITA Central Region’s sixth raked player. Ferrigno had to battle in both sets but he would edge his Savage Storm foe, 6-4, 6-4.
Cameron will be back in action on Thursday, March 28 at home against #31 Midwestern State in their Lone Star Conference season opener at 10 a.m.
