Aggie men’s tennis beat Bison, 7-2

SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Cameron University men’s tennis team continued their winning ways getting a 7-2 victory at Oklahoma Baptist on Monday afternoon. 

Cameron (19-2) has won their last seven matches in a row and their last 17 of 18 since falling to UT-Arlington on Feb. 8.

The Aggies edged out OBU in doubles getting a 2-1 lead to head into the break.  In the three slot with the paring of Angelo Lencioni and Jorge Gerosi, they would beat their counter parts 9-8.  The Bison returned the favor in the two slot winning 9-8 over Dean Weigelt and Joao Fazendeiro

Despite the close call in doubles, Cameron dominated in singes taking five matches for the 7-2 win.  Nicolai Ferrigno who was upset against St. Edward’s on Saturday got a 6-2, 7-6 win.  For the season, Ferrigno is 19-2 in singles.  Dennis Merdan won his sixth match in a row and 17th overall in the two slot, 7-6, and 7-6.  Both Weiglet and Fazendeiro would win in the five and six slot, respectively.

Cameron will have one final regular season match on Tuesday, April 16 at Seminole State College before the Lone Star Conference Championship on Friday in Southlake, Texas.
