OKLAHOMA CITY – The Cameron women's tennis team opened its fall season with a 9-0 sweep over Cowley College on Tuesday.

The Aggies got off to a strong start on the doubles side, winning 3-0. Samantha Wood and Zhenia Shviadok paired up for an 8-0 sweep in the two-slot. Paula Gutierrez and Angie Torres in the one-slot and Alina Gorina Mathilde Thibaudat in the three-slot both defeated their opponents 8-2.

In singles action, the Aggies kept their momentum and took six individual matches for the overall victory. Wood in the third slot and Shviadok in the fifth slot swept both of their sets, 6-0, and 6-0. Torres battled back in the two-slot after a first set score of 7-5 to sweep Cowley's Bruna Chavez in the second set 6-0. Gutierrez, 6-0, 6-2 and Gorina 6-2, 6-0 had flipped set scores. Thibaudat rounded out the Aggies with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Cowley's Annamae Norman.

Cameron will move onto individual action for the remainder of the fall with the Aggies playing at Midwestern State's invite this weekend.
