LAWTON – #20 Cameron's singles depth pushed them to an upset 5-4 win over #10 Southwest Baptist on Thursday in Lawton.
The Aggies picked up wins in its three through six singles slots to rally back to beat the Bearcats who reached the Final Four at last year's NCAA National Tournament.
Cameron's lone doubles win came in the three slot with
Samantha Wood and
Angie Torres taking a convincing 8-1 victory over SBU.
Both Torres and Wood were vital for the Aggies in singles play with Wood picking up a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in the six slot, and Torres winning 7-6, 6-0 in the three slot.
Mathilde Thibaudat won in the five slot 6-4, 6-1 and
Alina Gorina swept SBU in the four slot.
The win is Cameron's fifth in a row and they will go to 6-1 this season, Southwest Baptist falls to 6-2.
Cameron will remain at home to face Western New Mexico on Saturday at 11 a.m.
