LAWTON – The No. 20 Cameron women's tennis team upped their win streak to six with a 9-0 sweep of Western New Mexico on Saturday.
The Aggies got off to a strong start on the doubles side as
Zhenia Shviadok and
Alina Gorina defeated their opponents 8-1 in the first slot.
In the second doubles pairing,
Angie Torres and
Samantha Wood won with an 8-3 margin, with
Paula Gutierrez and
Mathilde Thibaudat rounded out CU's doubles sweep in the third slot, taking theirs 8-4.
In singles action, the Aggies kept their momentum and took six matches for the overall victory. In CU's top singles spot, No. 25
Paula Gutierrez won on an even 6-1, 6-1.
Alina Gorina swept her first set 6-0 and followed up 6-1 for a victory in the third-slot. After winning 6-2 in the sixth spot,
Mathilde Thibaudat swept the second set, 6-0.
CU's victory brings them to 7-1 overall, while Western New Mexico falls to 4-9.
The Aggies will travel to Colorado March 21-23 for three matches against Metropolitan State, No. 9 Hawaii Pacific, and Colorado State-Pueblo.
