PUEBLO, Colo. – Cameron made quick work of CSU-Pueblo beating them 5-0 under chilly conditions in Colorado to wrap up their Rocky Mountain road trip.
Temperatures hardly moved past 40 degrees with winds gusting to 40 mph but it didn't affect the Aggies who eased past the Thunderwolves in doubles. Cameron's top and third doubles teams both won 8-2 and the pairing of
Angie Torres and
Samantha Wood took an 8-3 win in the two slot.
In singles play,
Mathilde Thibaudat swept the six slot, and
Zhenia Shviadok won 6-2, 6-0 in the three slot.
Paula Gutierrez won her the first set in their top singles spot but the match would go unfinished.
The win sends Cameron to 9-2 this season, and CSU-Pueblo fell to 2-12.
Additionally, the ITA released its newest National Rankings on Wednesday and the Aggies moved up three spots to #17 in the nation. Midwestern State is the only other Lone Star Conference team in the poll coming in at #20. Gutierrez move up six spots in the singles ranking and is now at #19 in the nation.
Full ITA Top 50 Rankings Cameron will be off until March 31 where they will travel to Springfield, Mo. to play Drury University.
