SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – #17 Cameron flexed some muscles in singles play after dropping all three doubles slots to rally past an up-and-coming #33 Drury squad 5-4 in Springfield.
The loss Cameron snapped the Panthers perfect start to the season after winning their first nine matches.
Cameron's win is a rarity in the tennis world after dropping all three doubles matches they skated a razor thin margin of error needing to take five singles spots to secure the win. The last time the Aggies accomplished this was against Texas A&M-Kingsville in the 2015 Lone Star Conference Tournament which was held in Lawton.
The match boiled down to the two and four singles slots where the Aggies were pushed to a third set.
Angie Torres had the battle back from a 6-3 set one loss to take the next two sets 6-4 and 6-2 in the four-slot.
Alina Gorina won her first set 6-4 but would fall 6-2 to get pushed to a decisive third set where she won 6-2 to take the two-slot.
The win over the Panthers will move the Aggies to 10-2 overall this season; they will play on Friday at Northwestern Missouri State.
