AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 17 Cameron women's tennis team blew past No. 41 St. Edward's in a 9-0 sweep on Thursday in Austin.

Cameron has now won their last seven matches in a row and have swept teams eight times this season to bring their overall record to 15-2.  The Hilltoppers fell to 14-5 overall and it is the first time this season a NCAA Division II program has swept them.

Thursday's match could be an early preview of the upcoming South Central Regional with the Aggies ranked second and St. Edward's fourth in Wednesday's first poll.  Presently, Cameron would need to move up to the top of the regional poll to face St. Edward's in a one versus four matchup.

Cameron set the pace early taking all three doubles slots; CU's two and three doubles teams both only dropped one game, with Alina Gorina and Zhenia Shviadok taking the top-slot 8-3.

With the three point lead, Paula Gutierrez came off the court first with a 6-2, 6-2 win in CU's top singles slot.  Shviadok followed to clinch the match in favor of the Aggies in three-singles for her seventh win in a row.  Samantha Wood won her sixth match in a row 6-4, 6-0 in the five-singles spot.

Cameron will now travel to Texas A&M-Kingsville on Friday with a CU win securing them their first Lone Star Conference title.
