LAWTON – Cameron now only needs one more to hit 20 wins this season after an 8-0 sweep over Newman on Saturday to close out the regular season. 

The Aggies completed a perfect stretch of three matches in the last three days to finish their regular season with 19-3 overall record heading into the Lone Star Conference Tournament as its top-seed for the first time.    Additionally, the sweep by CU was their second straight, and eleventh this year for the Aggies.

Alina Gorina and Zhenia Shviadok continued to shine in the top-doubles spot with an 8-5 win over the Jets for their tenth victory in a row; the pairing held a 17-4 record together and went 5-1 against regional ranked foes. 

With the 3-0 lead heading into singles play, Cameron continued to have individuals riding sizable streaks. No. 19 Paula Gutierrez took her seventh match in a row with a 6-0, 7-6 win in the Aggies top-spot and Samantha Wood swept her second match in a row 6-0, 6-0, and now carries an 18-2 dual record.   Angie Torres who was playing in her final home regular season match won her third in a row, 7-6, and 6-1.

The loss to Cameron will send the Jets to 15-6.

Cameron will travel to Wichita Falls on Friday to face Texas A&M-Kingsville in the opening round of the LSC Tournament.
