WICHITA FALLS, Texas – For the second year in a row the Aggie women's tennis team will play for a Lone Star Conference Tournament title after sweeping Texas A&M-Kingsville 5-0 on Friday evening.

Cameron will advance to face Midwestern State for the second straight year with the Mustangs sweeping CU in Lawton in last year's title match. 

The sweep was CU's third in a row and twelfth this season but the Javelinas played the Aggies close in doubles action.  Paula Gutierrez and Angie Torres came off the court first in the two-slot winning their sixth match of the season 8-2.   In the three three-slot, Samantha Wood and Mathilde Thibaudat took a critical late game to prevent a tiebreaker winning 8-6.  Cameron's No. 15 nationally ranked pairing of Alina Gorina and Zhenia Shviadok fended off Martina Urrutia and Nadia Grlj 8-6 for their eleventh win in a row.

In singles, it was the bottom of CU's lineup that propelled them to a the Friday win.   Mathilde Thibaudat won 6-1, 6-0 in the six-slot and Samantha Wood took her eleventh in a row 6-1 and 6-0 in the fifth slot.   When the match was suspended, CU was up in three matches but was trailing in the top-spot with No. 18 Gutierrez down 5-4.

The win for the Aggies is head coach James Helvey's 796th and will send the team to 20-3 this season; Texas A&M-Kingsville will see their season end with a 5-16 record.
