LAWTON – Cameron split a doubleheader but took the home series over No. 25 Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday. The Aggies dropped the opener 10-7 but came back to win the series finale 8-2 at McCord Field.

Saturday's home series win for the Aggies is their first since 2011 against Texas A&M-Kingsville and will bring the Ags' record up to 23-12 overall and 11-12 in Lone Star Conference play. The Javelinas who entered the series in Lawton with a one game lead in the LSC standings fell to 24-12 overall and 15-9 in league play.

In the first contest, Texas A&M-Kingsville struck first in the opening frame off of a two out walk that led to a RBI double. In the bottom half of the first, Cameron blasted a two run shot by
Tyler Cook, and second two run moon shot by
Jorden Fields to put CU up 4-1. Â

After a scoreless inning, TAMUK pulled back in behind Cameron by one with a RBI double and a RBI single to left field. However in the home frame, Fields picked the Ags up with his second blast over the fence to score three and gave the Aggies a 7-3 lead.Â

Things would go south for the Aggies and the Javelinas scored two off of a double in the fourth and overtook Cameron with a three run homer to left field in the fifth to go up 10-7. TAMUK added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth with a pair of unearned runs on a CU error.

TAMUK outhit the Aggies by three with 11, Fields had a two hits, and season high five RBI for the Aggies.

Bryan Belote started the game and went four innings in the no-decision;
Deven Youngstedt (1-1) was charged the loss.Â
John Millan and
Logan Fanning also came out of the bullpen for the Aggies.
In the nightcap, Cameron dropped the hammer down in the second inning with a bases loaded walk by
Nate Hale, and
Tyler McKinzie smashed a grand slam homer to give them a five run lead. One inning later,
Cody Bower hit a solo shot to left field to push the Aggies up 6-0 over the Javelinas.

After three scoreless innings, TAMUK cut the CU lead down to four scoring on a bases loaded walk, and a RBI single. Â In the bottom of the eighth, CU picked up two more runs scoring on a wild pitch and swiping home plate.

The Aggies were outhit 7-to-5 with McKinzie having a four RBI game off the grand slam.

Codey Upton (4-1) went 6 2/3 innings with four strikeouts, Fanning recorded a strikeout in the seventh, and
Blake Welch tossed two scoreless frames.

Cameron will return to action on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup at Southwestern Oklahoma.Â
