West Texas comeback derails CU, Aggies fall 8-7 in extra inning

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Despite leading by as much as five runs, Cameron fell late in an extra inning to West Texas A&M 8-7 in the Lone Star Conference tournament on Friday afternoon.

The Aggies held a 7-2 lead entering the sixth inning, which included a home run from Cole Williams and Bronson Pulgados.

However, the tables turned in the sixth after CU failed to score again, and the Buffs started their chain with a two run homer themselves in the bottom frame. The Buffs came back down from five runs to tie the Aggies 7-7 in the eighth inning.

The game entered an extra inning and with two outs and two on, WT brought in the winning 8-7 run on an RBI single.

The Buffs overcame four errors in their comeback and out-hit Cameron 13 to ten. Following up CU's starter Dirk Masters and an appearance by Tyler Abrego, Jackson Tetreault (4-2) was charged with the loss allowing four hits and two runs in three innings.

Cameron (31-20) will face the winner of game four between Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State at 7 p.m. Friday, while West Texas A&M (35-17) advances to Saturday's final at 1 p.m.
