FORT SMITH, Ark. – The Aggie women's tennis team moved to .500 on the season with a 5-4 win over Arkansas Fort Smith on Friday.
Cameron was able to win two out of the three doubles matches to take the early lead.
Mathilde Thibaudat and
Zhenia Shviadok won their match in the one spot 8-6, while
Paula Gutierrez and
Samantha Wood won the two doubles match 8-2. CU's one doubles loss came in the three spot, as
Magdalena Kovinic and
Viola Lugmayr fell 8-1.
The Aggies got two outright wins in singles, as Wood won 6-1, 6-1 in the four spot and Kovinic won 6-3, 6-4 in the five spot. Shviadok fell in three sets in the two spot, as Thibaudat lost 6-2, 6-2 in the third match and Lugmayr lost her match in the six spot by forfeit. The deciding point was in the one singles match as Gutierrez won 6-1 in the first set and then her opponent retired in the second, giving CU the win.
The win puts CU at 3-3 on the season, while UAFS is now 2-8.
Next up for Cameron will be a visit to North Alabama on Saturday, March 11 starting at noon.
