Baseball takes down Tarleton State in extra innings

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Aggie baseball team overcame a five run deficit late in the game to take down Tarleton State 11-8 in 11 innings on Friday afternoon.

The Aggies are now 25-15 overall and 6-7 in the Lone Star Conference, while the Texans are 25-20 and 8-12 in the league.

Cameron grabbed an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first as Cody Knight doubled in two runs who each had reached on a hit by pitch, then Knight scored himself on a bases loaded hit by pitch.

However, TSU would make it 3-2 in the second on a sacrifice fly and solo home run, knot it in the third with another solo shot, and in the fourth inning, scored five runs including Blake Adams' second homer for an 8-3 advantage.

The Texans held onto that five run edge through the sixth inning until Cody Bower powered a two run homer over left field in the top of the seventh. In the eighth, Cameron would tie the game 8-8 scoring on two Texan errors and an RBI single.

On the mound, John Milan kept TSU hitless for two innings before Javarias Banks appeared in the extra frames allowing just one hit in the tenth and defending a bases loaded one out Texan opportunity prior to the Aggies' scoring three runs in the 11th.

In the 11th, Knight drove in two more on a single for 4 RBI total on the day, and Tom McGarry crossed home on a Cole Williams groundout. Back on the hill, Banks retired the last three Texans in order for the win moving him to 5-2 on the season.

Cameron out-hit the Texans 9-8 and errors were split at two apiece.

The series will continue with a single game 3 p.m. scheduled first pitch on Saturday followed by a 1 p.m. double header start on Sunday.
