ODESSA, Texas. – The Cameron baseball team opened their series against UT Permian Basin with a 13-3 win on Friday afternoon.
CU outhit their opposition 15-5 with six Aggies recording multiple hits and four with multiple RBI in
Ryan Banwart,
Leno Ramirez,
Victor DeJesus and
Cole Williams.
Tom McGarry scored a team high three runs.
Banwart led the Aggies with 4 RBI and went 3-for-5 at the plate. He crossed home plate twice himself.
Cameron started the scoring first and went up 3-0 in second inning as Ramirez hit an RBI single and Banwart 2 RBI on a single as well. Williams would make it a 5-0 lead with a two run double in the top of the sixth.
The sixth inning saw the Falcons' only runs of the game, all of which were scored unearned. Two scored on a right fielder error and one more scored on a balk for a 5-3 game.
However, the Aggies made sure to tack on the insurance runs, scoring seven runs in the seventh inning. Four singles plated five runs and one run scored on a bases loaded walk and the other a wild pitch.
CU had one more in store in the top of the ninth when DeJesus hit a sacrifice fly to score Banwart.
Starting pitcher
Gaige Vines threw for six innings allowing four hits to move to 3-4 with the win.
Adam Bosch faced two batters in the seventh while
Tyler Abrego closed out the final three innings with only one hit allowed.
Cameron moves to 21-13 overall and 2-5 in the league. UTPB is 7-22 with a 0-5 league mark.Â
