LAWTON, Okla. – Senior efforts led the way for the Cameron baseball team as the Aggies swept their double header against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday, winning game one in a 1-0 shutout and game two, 5-2 at McCord Field.
In game one, senior
Javarias Banks pitched a complete game two-hitter through seven innings to move to 6-2 on the mound. Banks struck out seven Javelina batters, four of which he sat down in a row, in route to the Aggies' 1-0 shutout.
Banks was backed by a solid Cameron defense that committed no errors and turned two double plays in the game.
It was junior
Cole Williams though who would account for the Aggies' lone run, and that's all they needed as he powered a second inning solo shot to left field, his fourth homer of the season, for CU's 1-0 edge.
For game two, senior Matt Glassman got the complete seven inning win on the mound, his first win of the year. Glassman allowed just four hits and two runs while striking out six.
In the fourth inning CU led 3-0, but with the bases loaded, a wild pitch allowed the Javelinas' first run to score. However, Glassman kept composure, retiring the side by way of strikeout with two runners in scoring position.
Glassman also worked out of a jam in the sixth inning when one Javelina double scored another with one out, but Glassman would sit down his final five batters, and finished the game in style by fanning three in a row in the seventh for CU's 5-2 victory.
Senior
Leno Ramirez led CU at the plate in game two, hitting 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. He also had a hit and stolen base in the first game. Additionally, junior
Micah Kaaukai went 2-for-3 in the nightcap with a swiped bag.
Senior
Cody Knight scored a team high two runs while fellow seniors
Cody Bower and
Tom McGarry each recorded a hit and scored a run.
The victories capped off senior day for the Aggie baseball team who prior to the game recognized Banks, Glassman, Ramirez, Knight, McGarry, Bower,
