ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The No. 21 Aggies end their roller coaster season with a 5-1 loss to No. 3 Columbus State in the Round of 16 of the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis National Championship.
Cameron fell behind quickly, losing both the two and three doubles matches 8-5, but responded with a win in the one doubles match. The 11th ranked pairing of
Felipe Oyarzun and
Mateo Velasco won 8-5 over the 22nd ranked duo of KP Pannu and Maciej Kierkus to cut the defecit to 2-1 heading into singles play.Â
A win in the five spot by CSU would give them a 3-1 advantage to start out singles play. Velasco and
Keiran President were able to win the first sets of their matches. Velasco won 6-1 in the first set before falling 6-4 in the second set, while President battled to a 6-4 win in the first set, but lost 6-1 in the second.
Unfortunately for the Aggies, Velasco and President didn't get a chance to win their third set, as CU fell in both the one and three singles matches to end the match. No. 29
Vinicius Santos lost 6-2, 6-1 to No. 32 KP Pannu, while Oyarzun lost his match 6-6, 7-5, giving the Cougars the 5-1 victory. Velasco's, President's and
