LAWTON- The Cameron baseball team dropped their series finale 8-2 to Texas A&M-Kingsville on Sunday afternoon at McCord Field.
The Aggies battled rain in the first inning that forced an error in the first inning, and the run would later score unearned on a SAC fly to starter
Abraham Renteria.
CU tied the game at one run each in the bottom of the fourth as
Micah Kaaukai doubled home
Cole Williams who reached scoring position on a SAC bunt by
Briton Schiewe.
But in the next frame, TAMUK got ahead scoring two on a triple, and made it a 4-1 advantage scoring on a CU error.
Cameron closed the gap in the top of the seventh as
Nik Sanchez homered to left field, his first deep ball of the season.
With nothing more doing for the Aggies, the Javelinas added four insurance runs top of ninth, plating two on a double and two more on a blooper behind first base.
Renteria (0-1) was charged with the loss after pitching five innings, allowing eight hits and four runs- two of which were unearned, but also struck out five batters. Reliever
Skyler Henderson closed out the game allowing the other four runs.
TAMUK out-hit the Aggies 12 to 7 and left ten on base compared to CU's eight men stranded.
The Javelinas are now 19-4, and the Aggies are 10-13.
