LAWTON- The Cameron baseball team fell 13-8 in their first game of four with No. 24 Angelo State on Friday afternoon.
The Rams hit four home runs in the game and scored ten consecutive runs in their Lone Star Conference win over the Aggies.
Cole Williams,
Colton Adams and
Trey Bigford powered solo home runs for Cameron.
Micah Kaaukai and
Kameron Good both doubled.
ASU had 16 hits to CU's 8 hits and both teams had three errors apiece.
Cameron started off the day with a 4-0 lead by the third inning. In the second frame, CU scored three unearned after ASU committed two errors. Williams hit a solo shot over left field in the third giving CU a four run advantage.
The Rams began their home run derby in the top of the fourth, tying the game with two long balls over left field. ASU extended their edge to 10-4 until Adams halted a ten run streak by the Rams with a home run over centerfield in the sixth.
ASU added more insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings, scoring on a pair of RBI doubles and a single to notch 13 runs. CU also had two more in store making it a 13-7 game in the eighth after Good doubled home a run then scored himself on a wild pitch.
Bigford got his first home run of the season in the ninth and back-to-back walks forced a pitching change for ASU. With two outs and the bases loaded after a hit by pitch, the Rams retired the Aggies on a popup to win 13-8.
Starter
Tyler Garcia (0-3) was charged with the loss after 4.2 innings of work where he allowed six hits and eight runs.
Cameron drops to 10-14 and 0-1 in the LSC, while ASU moves to 20-7 and 1-0 in the league.
