LAWTON- Just like yesterday, the Aggies split their double header with UT Permian Basin winning game one, 8-7 but falling in game two 11-2.
In the first game, the Falcons overcame a five run deficit to tie the game in the seventh inning. The original seven innings stretched into nine with the Aggies triumphing 8-7 after
Luke Hughes' walk off single.
UTPB started with a 2-0 lead until the fourth inning when Cameron scored seven runs highlighted by Cole William's grand slam.
In the sixth the Falcons inched closer by scoring on a single and followed up with a standout seventh inning that tied the game. UTPB nearly plated three on a double as two crossed safely until the potential third run was out at the plate on a good throw from Hughes to
Micah Kaaukai ending with the tag by Williams.
With two outs and still holding the lead, the Aggies walked the bases loaded and a UTPB two run single tied the game at seven runs each.
Both sides singled with nothing doing in the eighth, and
Skyler Henderson retired three Falcons in order in the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth, CU had two outs and runners on the corners when Hughes hit a walk-off single to plate the go ahead run for the 8-7 win.
Henderson (3-2) was awarded the win on the mound after finishing the final 2.1 innings with two hits, one walk and five strikeouts on his line.
Kaaukai had a team best 3 for 4 outing at the plate.
The Aggies struggled offensively in game two, getting out hit 17 to 4, and they committed two errors in the field.
The Falcons scored in each of the first four innings, building a 7-1 lead. Williams hit a SAC fly to right scoring Kaaukai in the third inning.
UTPB added three insurance runs in the sixth building their lead to 10-1, and put themselves in a run-rule opportunity with a score in the eighth. However,
Michael Flohr would single home
Trey Bigford in the bottom of the frame to stay alive.
CU went down in order the final inning to lose 11-2.
Williams and Albert Moralobo both doubled in the game.
Starter
Alex Ward (2-2) received the loss on the mound after giving up four earned runs and five hits in 2.2 innings.
Cameron is 15-20, 5-7 LSC, and UTPB 6-27, 2-6 LSC.
