WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Cameron men's tennis wrapped up the Intercollegiate Tennis Association South Central Regional on Sunday, with freshman
Bruno Vietri making it to the semifinals of the singles main draw.

A first year player from Argentina, Vietri started the regional as the 11 seed and made quick work of his first two opponents on Friday, winning 6-1, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-2. He then upset the three seed Jeremiah Gonzaliez from St. Mary's 7-6, 7-6 and beat MSU Denver's David Kijak 6-1, 6-2 to make it to the semifinals. Vietri lost in the fifth round to the two seed and eventual Region Champion Anish Sriniketh from St. Edward's 6-2, 6-3.
Vietri was one of four Aggies to make it to the Saturday rounds in Wichita Falls. The seven seed
Oscar del Granado won his first two matches before falling to SEU's Jesse Wilkso in three sets.
Julen Gutierrez lost in his first match on Saturday to MSU's Alex Martinez-Roca, and
Pierre Marion had the same fate against SEU's Chase Bartlett.
Additionally, after losing in their first round matches,
Stefan Svicevic and
Santiago Berdasco were entered in the consolation draw. Both won their first match of the bracket before falling in the second round.
Cameron had three teams in the main doubles draw, but only the duo of Marion and Vietri made it to the second round, winning their match against DBU opponents 8-5. Their luck ran out in the second round, falling to a pair from UT Tyler 8-2.
In the doubles consolation draw, Svicevic and Berdasco lost their first match, but Gutierrez and del Granado used came out on top of the draw with four straight wins.
St. Edward's swept both main draws with Sriniketh winning the singles championship and WIkso and Abhimanyu Ramireddy taking the doubles title.
The Cameron men will be back in action next week as they compete in the Oral Roberts Invitational in Tulsa, Okla., Oct. 11-12.
