Jaco's no-hitter earns LSC Pitcher of the Week honors

RICHARDSON, Texas – After throwing a no-hitter against Eastern New Mexico last Friday, CU baseball's Hayden Jaco was named Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week by league officials on Tuesday.

Cameron's primary catcher, Jaco got the start in game three of their series against Eastern New Mexico and threw the program's first no-hitter since 2013. The senior went all seven innings, with his only blemishes being a pair of hit batters and an error in the third inning. Jaco also struck out eight batters and drove in a pair of runs at the plate in the 11-0 victory.

Friday's start was Jaco's fourth appearance and second start this spring. He owns a 5.27 ERA and has 14 strikeouts in just 13.2 innings on the mound.

Additionally, the British Columbia native tallied six hits, drove in 11 runs, and scored four times in the four-game series against the Greyhounds. He is now batting .298 on the season with 28 runs scored, 10 doubles, one triple, two homers, and 30 RBI.

Jaco is the second CU baseball player to claim the Pitcher of the Week honor this season, as Sean Maher was awarded the season's first on Feb. 5.

The Aggies, who are currently third in the LSC baseball standings, will look to continue their strong play when they visit UT Permian Basin this weekend, April 26-28, for a four-game set.
