LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron men and women's tennis teams are set to take on the rest of the Lone Star Conference as they compete in the league championship tournament this weekend, May 2-4.
With their 5-2 win over MSU Texas last Thursday, the Cameron men clinched the LSC regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the tournament, going 3-0 in league play this season.
Friday, the CU men will face off against the four seed Western New Mexico in the conference semifinal at 12 p.m. If they win that match, they will play the winner of the MSU/UTPB match in the LSC Championship Final on Saturday at 10 a.m.
In Wednesday's Oracle/ITA rankings, the Cameron men moved up to No. 13 in Division II, jumping up four spots from last week's ranks.
Vinicius Santos moved up two spots and is now ranked No. 6 in singles, while
Przemyslaw Zielinski is now ranked No. 72. In doubles, Santos and
Julen Gutierrez are now ranked No. 15, moving up 11 spots from last week, and Zielinski and
Mritunjay Badola are now No. 44.
The Aggie women enter the LSC Championship as the No. 4 seed after finishing the season with a conference record of 4-2. Three teams finished the season with 4-2 league marks (CU, MSU Texas, and Texas A&M-Kingsville), but due to tiebreaker rules, CU ended up as the four seed.
In the first round, CU will battle Tarleton State on Thursday at 2 p.m.; Cameron beat the TexAnns 4-3 in their regular season matchup. If they win that match, they will go on to face No. 1 seed Angelo State in the semifinal on Friday at 4 p.m. The women's final will be on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Cameron debuted in the ITA rankings for the first time since Jan. 16, coming in at No. 40 in DII.
Sarah Frendo remained in the top-10 in singles, ranking sixth in the nation, while
Zhenia Shviadok comes in at No. 18. Frendo and Shviadok are also ranked No. 33 in doubles, while
Alisa Savina and
Rebeka Velasova are ranked No. 30.
