Tait named Cameron Coach of the Year

LAWTON – Aggie spirit team head coach Adla-Marie Tait was voted the Cameron Athletics' Coach of the Year for the 2020-21 athletic year.

In her second year as the Cameron University spirit team's head coach, Tait has brought her Division I collegiate spirit team experience to the squad, having been a member of the Bowling Green University dance team for four years.

Like most of the coaches this season, Tait had to deal with multiple obstacles during the 2020-21 athletic year. One of those was the fact that the squads were unable to be on the floor like normal years, cheering from the stands during the basketball and volleyball seasons.

Despite the obstacles, the Aggie spirit team did a great job of providing fan engagement and pride during the spring, even when there were little to no fans in the stands at the Aggie Gym.

In addition to leading her squads at games, Tait has been key in getting Cameron spirit out on campus and in the community to help promote not only the athletic department but also the entire university.

Tait was one of the many coaches who exceled in the face of adversity this season for Cameron Athletics. Strength and Conditioning coach Ryan Flood, tennis coach Josh Cobble, women's basketball coach Emma Andrews, and men's golf coach Houston Moore all had great years.

Due to health and safety concerns, the Cameron Athletics end of the year banquet was not held and all the awards are going to be announced virtually on the athletics website.
