Silver City, NM – Aggies win against Western New Mexico
The Lady Aggies won their second straight road game on Saturday afternoon when they defeated the Mustangs of Western New Mexico.
Cameron University had the upper hand for the entirety of this contest. After winning the tip-off, the Aggies scored on a quick jumper in the paint by
Kailyn Lay. The Mustangs would respond with a jumper of their own. A made shot by
Katie King would give the Aggies the lead again and they kept that lead for the remainder of the contest. Cameron would win 51-42 to improve their record to 5-10 overall and 3-6 in the Lone Star Conference.
Shamica Smith led all players in points and rebounds as she recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Katie King and
Kailyn Lay both contributed 14 points a piece for the Aggies.
Korie Allensworth was the only other Aggie to record a basket during the game as she finished with seven points.
The Lady Aggies return home for their next contest when they take on Texas Permian Basin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18 in the Aggie Gym.
