Ada, OK. – The Cameron University women's basketball team delivered a remarkable performance in their 69-59 win against East Central University. With standout individual contributions and cohesive team play, the Aggies improved their record to 1-1, showcasing their potential for the season ahead.Â
Cameron tailed 69 points, powered by 19 field goals, including 10 three-pointers on 38% shooting from beyond the arc. Freshman, Madison Griggs led the team with 19 points, including four three-pointers, and contributed two steals and two assists in her 34 minutes of play. Senior, Grace Alverson scored 12 points, hitting four three-pointers, and added five rebounds, three assists, and one steal. The Aggies grabbed 34 total rebounds, including 26 on the defensive end, limiting East Central's second-chance opportunities. Â
 Cameron's bench players contributed 20 points, doubling the production of East Central. Senior, Shamica Smith dominated the boards with 15 rebounds, added 12 points for a double-double, and recorded two blocks. Smith's defensive tenacity anchored the Aggies. Freshman, Kenly Gore provided a spark off the bench with eight points, two rebounds, and three assists in just 16 minutes.Â
The Aggies surged in the second half, outscoring East Central 44-23 in the third and fourth quarters combined. A strong defensive effort, highlighted by five team steals and a +2 rebounding margin, proved instrumental in shifting momentum.
