LAWTON, Ok — Aggies softball played in the middle of the week on Wednesday evening against the St. Edward's Hilltoppers. Cameron is coming off of a successful weekend in which the team won three of four matchups. On Friday, the team lost in extra innings to Texas A&M Kingsville, 3-2. However, later in the evening the Aggies responded with a one run victory, 5-4. Against International, Cameron won both their meetings in huge offensive performances and both by mercy rule, 11-3 and 9-1. Cameron looked to continue their success in their final four home games of the 2025 season.
Game 1 Recap: Double Digit Mercy Victory
The Aggies and Hilltoppers both managed to put runners on in the first but neither side crossed home. However, Stormee Reed and the Cameron defense would end the second undamaged.
On an unfortunate play for the Aggies infield, the ball escaped the shortstop to allow a run with bases loaded, 0-1. After a long battle, the Hilltoppers managed a bases loaded walk to extend their edge to two, 0-2. St. Edwards looked poised to strike again in the third with two runners on. Reed stopped the threat with an incredible play to end the top of the third. In the pitching circle, she rushed to catch a short pop up on the fly and twisted around to nail the runner tagging at first.
Reed's bats rewarded her in the bottom of the third frame with enough offense to flip the scoreboard. Anslie Roach started it off with a single which was followed by a Kelsey Creech walk. Kaiden Boren came up clutch with a two-RBI double to tie the game, 2-2. On a strong comebacker to the pitcher, Madysen Boutwell reached from a throwing error from the pitcher and allowed the leading run to score, 3-2.
In the fifth, Cameron extended their lead from a Kyndel McDaniel bases clearing three run single, 6-2. A batter later, Rylee Ross doubled in a run to put her team up by five, 7-2. On a wild pitch, Creech crossed home to give the Aggies their eight run, 8-2. With a walkoff mercy rule looming, McDaniel roasted the ball to left center for two-RBIs and clinched the victory, 10-2.
Game 2 Recap: Cameron Rallies in Seventh to Defeat St. Edward's in Dramatic Fashion
In a gritty showdown under the lights at home in Lawton, the Cameron softball team delivered a late-game comeback to stun St. Edward's 4-3 in the second game of their doubleheader.
Trailing 3-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Aggies erupted for three clutch runs to seize the win. Center fielder Kelsey Creech led the charge with an explosive 4-for-4 performance at the plate, including a double and a pair of leadoff hits that set the tone all evening. Creech also drove in a key run and crossed the plate twice.
Cleanup hitter Haley Gardella and first baseman Madysen Boutwell each added critical RBIs in the third inning to help Cameron climb back after a 3-run burst by St. Edward's in the top of the third. Boutwell finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, showcasing power and poise under pressure.
Cameron's defense remained sharp throughout the game, committing no errors and making pivotal plays, including strong infield support from third baseman Anslie Roach, who tallied four assists.
