Laredo, Texas - The Cameron University softball team swept the University of Texas Permian Basin on Saturday afternoon. The Aggies had two dominant pitching performances from
Madison Fulfer in the first game and from
Stormee Reed in the second game.
In game one, Cameron got on the board first with a sacrifice fly from
Kyley Cochran to go up 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning. In the bottom of the fourth inning,
Rylee Ross doubles to score two more runs for the Aggies. Ross hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning to add on another run for Cameron.
Madison Fulfer held UT Permian Basin scoreless in the top of the seventh inning to close out the game and secure the complete game.
In game two, Hayley Gardella hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first to put Cameron up 2-0. The Aggies would score one run in the second, and two runs in the third inning to extend the lead. In the bottom of the fifth,
Madysen Boutwell hit a sacrifice fly to tack on another run, and Gardella hit a solo home run for her second of the game to put Cameron ahead 7-0.
Kyley Cochran tripled to plate two more runs in the fifth to close out the game in five innings.
Stormee Reed pitched a complete game, striking out 10 Falcons and holding UT Permian Basin scoreless.
