Bethany, Oklahoma - The Cameron University softball team split the doubleheader Tuesday afternoon against Southern Nazarene University.
In game one, the Cameron University softball team fell to Southern Nazarene 6-2. After two scoreless innings, Southern Nazarene struck first in the second inning, with Cameron finally getting on the board in the third inning, only for the Crimson Storm to add two more runs in the third to take control. The Crimson Storm continued to build their lead with two-runs in the fourth inning and an additional run in the fifth. The Aggies added a late run in the seventh on a solo home run, but the Aggies were unable to close the gap, finishing with eight hits in the loss.
In game two, Cameron found themselves in an early hole as Southern Nazarene struck first in the opening inning and exploded for six runs in the third to take a commanding 7-0 lead. The Aggies responded in a big way in the fourth inning by taking advantage of defensive miscues and timely hitting, and capitalized with key RBIs from multiple hitters to even the score.
The momentum carried into the sixth inning when the Aggies added two more runs to take their first lead of the game. Cameron's pitching staff settled in down the stretch, shutting out the Crimson Storm over the final four innings to secure the comeback victory. The Aggies finished with 12 hits in the win.
