Softball Take Two from Eastern New Mexico in Dominant Doubleheader

Lawton, Okla. - The Cameron University softball team won swept Eastern New Mexico in Doubleheader on Friday evening. 

In game one, Cameron secured a 7-6 win over Eastern New Mexico in a back-and-forth contest. Eastern New Mexico jumped out early with a two-run first inning, but Cameron responded in the third when Kyndel McDaniel tied the game with a two-run home run. After the Greyhounds evened the score again in the fifth, Cameron took control in the sixth as Haley Gardella blasted a three-run home run to give the Aggies the lead. Eastern New Mexico pushed two runs across in the seventh, but Stormee Reed closed it out, finishing with 11 strikeouts to earn the complete-game victory.

In game two, Cameron wasted no time setting the tone, exploding for seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and holding on the rest of the way for a 7-2 win over Eastern New Mexico. The Aggies capitalized on early miscues and delivered the big hit when Kyndel McDaniel launched a grand slam to give Cameron a commanding lead. Eastern New Mexico answered with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, but Cameron's defense and steady pitching kept the Greyhounds from closing the gap.Madison Fulfer went the distance in the circle, allowing just five hits and two runs while striking out five to secure the victory and complete the doubleheader sweep for the Aggies.
