Tyler, Texas – The Cameron University softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to #22 UT Tyler Friday afternoon at Irwin Field.
In game one, Cameron fell 6-3 to UT Tyler after a six-run third inning shifted the momentum. The Aggies struck first in the opening inning when Rylee Ross drove in Chloe Broussard with a sacrifice fly. Cameron added another run in the third on a solo home run by Haley Gardella. UT Tyler responded with six runs in the bottom of the third to take control. Cameron added one run in the seventh on an RBI single by Camryn Hunkins, but the rally fell short.
In game two, Cameron took an early lead but came up short in an 8-4 loss. The Aggies jumped ahead in the third when Madysen Boutwell launched a three-run home run. UT Tyler answered with five runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead. Cameron cut the deficit to one in the fourth on a solo home run by Krisyana Pellett, but UT Tyler added two insurance runs in the sixth to secure the win.
