Lawson’s 20 Kills Helps Keep Cameron’s Postseason Chance Alive

LAWTON, Okla. – Junior Adrienne Lawson’s 10th double-double of the season, and the Cameron volleyball teams five set win over Central Oklahoma, kept a possible postseason berth alive Thursday night in Lone Star Conference action (23-25, 26-24, 19-25, 27-25, 15-12).

Lawson finished the night with 20 kills and 11 digs, while freshman Jenna Risoli added a team-best 43 assists. It was the third time this season Risoli had over 40 assists and also helped the Frisco, Texas, native to her fifth double-double.

Cameron (8-16, 3-8) received a big boost from the majority of the teams in the LSC Thursday, as three of the four teams ahead of the Aggies lost. Cameron is two games behind Texas Woman’s for the final spot in the LSC Championship with three to play.

After dropping sets one and three, Cameron was facing defeat down 22-19 until a freshman Jenna Keeler kill propelled the Aggies to go on a 7-3 set ending run. During the run, Lawson and Keeler combined for four kills, while senior Amber Schroer and Risoli added a block to force a fifth set.

Cameron found itself down 10-9, but four straight points gave the Aggies a lead they would never lose. Cameron came up with two blocks during the run and Lawson added two more kills to help in the victory.

Saturday will be the next action for Cameron, as it plays host to Southwestern Oklahoma at 2 p.m.
