EDMOND, Okla. – The Cameron Aggies women’s basketball team (8-8, 1-1) picked up their first loss in Lone Star Conference divisional play with an 81-64 loss on the road to the Bronchos of Central Oklahoma (9-5, 2-0).
The game was the first of two LSC North Division road contests for the Aggies.
Junior guard Sabelle Diata led the Aggies with 17 points and nine rebounds on a 7-for-13 (54-percent) shooting night while senior Josie Stewart added 16 points along with six boards.
The Aggies went into the break down four but were ultimately unable to stop the hot-handed outside shooters of the home squad. Central Oklahoma was 7-for-13 (54-percent) from behind-the-arc.
Diata scored the opening points of the second to pull the Aggies within two, but Central Oklahoma finally pulled away on a 14-2 run with four minutes remaining to put the game out of reach.
Head Coach
Tom Webb’s squad shot at a 37-percent clip (21-for-57) and was just 26-percent (7-for-27) from three point range.
The Bronchos had five players post double-digit scoring numbers with Ashley Beckley leading the way with 18.
Cameron will now head east to Ada, Okla., take on LSC rival East Central. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19 on Wayne Cobb Court inside the Kerr Activities Center on the campus of East Central.
