LAWTON, Okla. - Senior Josie Stewart went into double figures for the fifth straight game as the Cameron Aggies women's basketball team (9-11, 2-4 LSC North) snapped a four-game losing streak with a 77-58 victory over the Lions of Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday afternoon in Aggie Gym.

Three other Aggies also went into double figures including junior guard Sabelle Diata who returned to the team after a four-game absence. Diata posted 11 points in limited playing time while sophomore Alexis Williams added 13.

Junior point guard Nicole Pendarvis repeated her stellar performances with another today as she posted 12 points and eight rebounds. The 5-foot-6 guard has been a spark plug as of late for Head Coach Tom Webb’s squad, coming up with shot after shot in traffic to give the Aggies a push on offense.

Cameron jumped out to an early lead but the game was kept close by solid shooting in the paint by the Lions. Freshman Ali Brown provided the breakaway spark the Aggies need with a difficult layup at 11:15 to put the Aggies up 17-15.

The Aggies took that layup and ran on to a 39-20 lead at halftime on the heels of a 22-5 run.

The story of the second half was no different as the Lions never pulled within single digits. Hannah Merle provided the points to draw the margin to its thinnest, 12-points, with a layup at 8:47 to bring the scoreboard to 54-42.

Diata capped her night with a pair of free throws to give Cameron its largest lead of the night, 26-points, before retiring with 3:37 to go and the Aggies up 72-46.
When the clock finally read all zeros, it was a 77-58 victory for the home squad.

The Aggies connected on 27-of-57 (47 percent) from the field and were 17-of-28 (60 percent) from the charity stripe.  Cameron also won the assist battle as they were opportunistic to the tune of 17-5 as well as outrebounding Commerce 50-43 with the largest disparity coming on the defensive glass (36 to 21).

Junior forward Jessica Priest was also the only player to pull down double-digits rebounds on the night with ten. She added four points in 16 minutes.

Bianca Stevenson and Danielle Dixon led the Lions in scoring with 17 each. Stevenson was 6-of-9 from the floor while Dixon connected on 5-of-17. For the game, the Lions shot 29-percent (20-of-67) and were 50-percent (14-of-28) from the line.

The Aggies now head to Weatherford, Okla. , to take on LSC Rival Southwestern Oklahoma on Wednesday, February 2. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
