LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron Aggies women’s basketball team utilized a press defense early on but was unable to slow down a determined, hot shooting Angelo State Rambelles (6-5) squad as they fell at home in Lone Star Conference crossover play, 66-34, Thursday night in Aggie Gym.
The Rambelles open the game on a 22-9 run and never looked back as they held their lead for the duration of the game.
A two-point jumper from junior Sabelle Diata tied the game at 2-2 before consecutive turnovers helped ASU creep out to a 7-2 lead which crept towards 35 points late in the second half.
Angelo also won the turnover battle to the tune of 10 points off turnovers. The normally consistent Aggies were held to a season low 29-percent (14-of-47) shooting night from the field.
Cameron was able to muster only 14 points in the second half and 34 for the game. In producing the lowest point total of the season, the Aggies fell to 6-7 on the year and will look to rebound on Saturday when they host Abilene Christian.
Tip off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
