Aggie Softball Splits Day One Games at Missouri Southern Border Battle

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 JOPLIN, Mo. – The Cameron Aggies (6-11-1) softball squad split a pair of opening day games at the Missouri Southern Border Battle tournament in Joplin on Saturday.

The Aggies won game one over Pittsburg State 8-0 and fell to Northwest State 6-0 in the nightcap.

In game one, Carrie Harvey pitched a complete five innings allowing just two hits while striking out eight.

Cameron held a one run lead after the third when a Kelly Lentz double to left field drove in Jessica Orr.

They pounded out six hits and seven runs in the fifth to go up 8-0 and close the game.

Leslie Martini drew a bases loaded walk for the innings first run before Cheryl Raesz singled to right field to make it 3-0.

Kelsy Hebert added another RBI to make it 4-0 followed by a Meca Chambers bases loaded walk to push their lead to 5-0.

For her second at-bat of the inning, Orr ripped a single to left field to drive in a pair of runs to push the lead to 7-0. Lentz added another RBI with a single to close out the inning.

The Aggies fell in game two but stats are currently unavailable for that game.

Cameron returns to the diamond tomorrow with Emporia State and Missouri Southern on tap. First pitch for Emporia State is set for Noon.
