Cameron Women Fall in Season Finale to Central Oklahoma, 74-59

LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron Aggies women’s basketball team (13-15, 6-8 LSC North) was unable to find victory in the season finale as they fell 74-59 to Central Oklahoma (18-8, 11-3 LSC North) at Aggie Gym on senior night.

It was the final game in an Aggie uniform for Josie Stewart and Jessica Priest.

Stewart finished with a team leading 17 points including 12 from the free throw line. She also pulled down six rebounds and finishes her career as the most prolific three pointer shooter in Cameron history.

“I can’t say enough about these two seniors,” said Head Coach Tom Webb. “You can’t ask of anymore from a pair of players than what Josie and Jessica have given us this season, and I’m so proud to say I was their coach.”

“As a team, I thought the girls came together as the season went on and it’s unfortunate we are finished but we’ll build on the things we learned for next season right away.”

The Bronchos jumped out to a quick 13-5 advantage on a pair of Ashley Beckley free throws and pushed their lead to 10 with six minutes remaining.

Cameron chipped away at the lead and went into the break down nine, 33-24.

In the first, they were beaten in the paint by a 12-6 margin and gave up seven points off turnovers.

Webb’s squad came out fighting in the second, drawing to within three at 33-30 with 17:05 to go as Priest sank a pair of charity tosses.

The Ags completed their comeback on a Constance Rundles layup with 13:54 to take their first lead of the game at 39-38.

It was short lived however as the Bronchos sprinted away to score 36 points to 17 for the Aggies over the final 13 minutes.

Cameron completed its season with tonight’s game and will turn their focus to off-season conditioning and recruiting.
