Cameron Softball Defeats Bulldogs as Harvey Sits Down 11

LAWTON, Okla. – Carrie Harvey recorded her 13th complete game of the season and school-record 13th career shutout as the Cameron Aggies (12-12-1, 1-0 LSC North) defeated Lone Star Conference rival Southwestern Oklahoma (8-5, 0-1) 4-0 at Cameron Field on Friday.

All four of CU’s runs came off homeruns including a two-run shot to left center from shortstop Jessica Orr in the fifth inning.

Drew Wright broke the deadlock with a single home run to left field in the fourth off Bulldogs’ starting pitcher Katie Raines (4-3).

Orr’s two runs in the fifth made it 3-0 before Leslie Martini sent Raines’ 2-1 offering sailing out to straight away center for her ninth home run of the season to put the final stamp on the book for the Aggies.

Harvey pushed her record to 9-5 on seven complete innings. She struck out 11 of 24 batters while surrendering just one walk as she worked the corners off the plate all day long. The reigning back-to-back LSC North allowed three hits and only one base runner reached second.

Raines was tagged with the loss after five complete innings. She was tagged with all four earned runs while allowing six total hits and walking just one batter. Raines struck out one batter.

The Aggies and Bulldogs square off again in a scheduled double dip tomorrow afternoon at Cameron Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. in Lawton.
